What is your favorite brand, and why?
I love REI for the quality of the products and the company’s attitude and overall mission. I’m big on hiking and camping, so I’ve been shopping there for years. I particularly liked that they didn’t participate in Black Friday and instead encouraged people to #OptOutside.
What is your favorite quote or nugget of wisdom?
Dora of Finding Nemo, who says, “Just keep swimming.” I started my business back in 2013, and I’ve made plenty of mistakes. Fortunately, I’ve learned along the way. Dora reminds me to keep going.
Who inspires you and why?
Anyone who speaks truth to power. As someone who once worked as a reporter, I think it’s important to ask questions and back up claims.
What are you passionate about?
Singing! I think the next Mingle Bells should feature karaoke.
How has the AMA helped you excel in your career?
The AMA has helped me speak the language of marketing managers. I have a greater understanding of how the content that I write fits into their overall strategy.
What excites you most about San Diego AMA events?
Meeting new people and learning about different industries.
