WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT BEING A SAN DIEGO AMA MEMBER?
I’ve really enjoyed getting to know the SDAMA board members and the team organizing #SDAOM, especially the marketing communications sub-committee. Being around this creative, intelligent and interesting group has been a great learning experience.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE BRAND?
I’ve got a lot of admiration for Southwest Airlines. Just look at how innovative they’ve been over the years with concepts like boarding in groups, picking your own seat, Friends Fly Free, Rapid Rewards. Their marketing is clever, amusing and inclusive, and they never forget what makes them different. It’s no surprise they tend to outperform their competition.
WHAT IS YOUR GOLDEN NUGGET OF WISDOM?
“You can’t be all things to all people.” It’s important in marketing to know who you are, but also important to know who you are not. Now, if I could just get my clients to agree!
WHO INSPIRES YOU?
Risk-takers. It’s easy to keep doing what’s comfortable, to trust what’s worked in the past. I admire people who pursue their dreams and ideas despite the challenges.
WHAT ARE YOU PASSIONATE ABOUT?
Organization. I can’t stand it when things feel out of sorts!
HOW HAS THE AMA HELPED YOU EXCEL IN YOUR CAREER?
It’s early yet, I’ve only been a member since August. But I can say that I’ve already learned a lot from the people I’m working with, and there have been several instances where I’ve been able to apply this new knowledge to my business. I just regret not getting involved in AMA sooner!
