About the Mentor

Suzy Garcia brings more than 18 years of experience working across nonprofit organizations, specializing in strategic communications, public relations, and business development.

Most recently, she served as Director of Public Relations at a local agency supporting nonprofits and socially responsible companies, with clients including United Way of San Diego County, Susan G. Komen San Diego, and the National Conflict Resolution Center.

Her work has been recognized by SD Metro Magazine, naming her one of San Diego’s “40 Under 40,” and by the North County Philanthropy Council as Volunteer of the Year. Suzy’s connection to the Voices for Children mission is deeply personal – she was lived in foster care herself, finding a happy, forever home at age six.
