Campaign in a Day: Collaboration, Connection, and Real-World Exposure

AMA San Diego hosted its inaugural Campaign in a Day program, an immersive event for local college marketing students to gain real-world experience by developing a campaign for a local non-profit organization.

Students from the University of San Diego, San Diego State University, California State University San Marcos, and Point Loma Nazarene University formed four teams to produce the best marketing campaign – all in a day. Each team had marketing professionals from the San Diego-based marketing agencies, DUFF!BEAR Advertising, Power Digital, The Shipyard, and Red Door Interactive guide them in building strategic marketing solutions for the challenges faced by Autism Tree, a non-profit dedicated to supporting individuals and families impacted by autism. The non-profit shared key issues with its mission and wanted the proposed campaigns to elevate their work’s awareness, engagement, and outreach.

The teams brainstormed and built their marketing campaigns in two hours and presented them to the team from Autism Tree, with the Point Loma Nazarene University team winning the Campaign in a Day competition. The students experienced working under tight deadlines and used their creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, to make a meaningful and impactful campaign. Cheers to every student for the enthusiasm, creativity, and dedication they brought to the competition!

This was an incredible opportunity for students to sharpen their skills, and build connections, and for marketing agencies to mentor students as they prepare to enter their next chapter in the workforce. Big thanks to the students, agencies, volunteers, the University of San Diego for hosting us, and the team from Autism Tree for making this an unforgettable event for all.
